Now, at the entrance to Petropavlovsk, the city guests are greeted by a bronze monument to Kozhabergen zhyrau. In North Kazakhstan region, a monument was erected to an outstanding akyn, batyr, and commander Kozhabergen zhyrau. The total height of the structure is 12 meters. The author is a famous Kazakh sculptor Kazbek Satybaldin.

At the grand opening of the monument, Maulen Ashimbayev, the First Deputy Chairman of the «Nur Otan» Party and the akim of North Kazakhstan region Kumar Aksakalov took part. Public figures, creative intelligentsia, veterans, youth and relatives of the batyr gathered at the significant event.

Kozhabergen zhyrau was born in the area of Gultobe, in Zhambyl district of North Kazakhstan region. He was an associate of Tauke Khan, and took part in the «Zheti Zhargy» code of laws. Kozhabergen is also the author of the song «Yelim-ai» about the terrible time «Aktaban shubyryndy». It should be noted that for a long time the song was considered popular, the author was not mentioned. According to the akim of the region, for many years the name of the commander was undeservedly forgotten.

«Today, we are opening a monument to a batyr, akyn, scientist, enlightener, hero of his time, our countryman — Kozhabergen Zhyrau.

This is a significant event for North Kazakhstan region.

The great commander had fought for justice, truth, Motherland for all his life. As a diplomat and politician, a capable warrior, he attracted the attention of the famous Tauke Khan. It was Kozhabergen which Tauke listened to when drawing up a compilation of the first Constitution of the «Zheti zhargy». He was an adviser to Abylai Khan. With the attainment of independence of Kazakhstan, scientists had the opportunity to study his rich creativity», — Kumar Aksakalov said.

After the opening, a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument took place.
